Glossary
Noble kava
Updated:
A trade term for kava cultivars traditionally used for drinking in the Pacific, as distinct from other varieties; sellers print it on labels (one kava-and-kratom tonic lists noble kava root as its first ingredient). The term describes a cultivar class, not a measured value; the measured value is kavalactone content.
"Noble" is the trade word for kava cultivars used in traditional drinking. The largest kava-and-kratom tonic on the market lists "noble kava root" as its first ingredient (Feel Free Classic tonic), and kava-only sellers market named varieties from Fiji and Vanuatu (Kalm with Kava).
The term is descriptive, not analytical. It says which cultivar the root came from; it does not state a quantity. The quantity a buyer can compare is kavalactone content, in percent of root or milligrams per serving, from a lab report. When this store sources a kava product, the cultivar will be stated as the supplier prints it and the kavalactone figure will come from the report.
