What is on a kratom lab report?

Written by: Author pendingReviewed by: Reviewer pendingUpdated:

Answer

The laboratory's name and ISO/IEC 17025 accreditation, the client, a sample ID and dates, the serving mass, and an alkaloid table giving each analyte in percent, mg per gram, mg per serving and mg per unit with its LOD and LOQ; the reports here show mitragynine at 57 to 70 mg per tablet (NarcoBrands COAs).

What is in the header?

Answer

The laboratory's name, its accreditation ("ISO/IEC 17025:2017 Acc. 85368" on the reports linked here), a DEA registration number, the client who submitted the sample, the sample ID, the received and reported dates, and the analyses ordered (NarcoBrands COAs). Accreditation to ISO/IEC 17025 means an independent body has audited the laboratory's competence for the methods in scope (ISO).

What is in the table?

Answer

One row per alkaloid quantified. Each row gives the result as a percentage, in mg per gram, in mg per serving and in mg per unit, with the method's limit of detection and limit of quantitation. The sample's unit mass, servings per unit and serving mass are stated so the rows can be checked: 82.81 mg/g times a 0.69 g serving is 57.14 mg, and three servings make 171.42 mg per unit on report SD260424-137.

What is often missing?

Answer

A product lot number, and a contaminant panel. The reports linked here are alkaloid potency panels with neither. This store's lab-results pages say so in plain words, and the owner's supplier list asks for lot-specific reports with heavy metals and microbials before production orders ship. The full walk-through is how to read a kratom lab report.

Where is the report itself?

Answer

Linked from every product page at the laboratory's or brand's own URL. The laboratory forbids reproducing its reports for marketing, so the PDF is never rehosted here.

  • What does not detected mean for 7-OH?

Below the method's detection floor, not zero. The reports linked here state 7-hydroxymitragynine as not detected with a limit of quantitation of 0.025 ppm, which is 0.000025 mg...

  • Why does the lab report show no lot number?

Because the brand submitted a sample, not a production lot. The three reports linked here carry a laboratory sample ID (SD260424-137 to -139), a client name and a date of...

  • What is a contaminant panel and why does it matter?

Tests for things that should not be in the product: heavy metals (lead, arsenic, cadmium, mercury), microbes, and for extracts residual solvents. Lead is the documented concern...
