Kratom leaf

Updated:

Definition

Dried, ground Mitragyna speciosa leaf sold as powder, in capsules or pressed into tablets, at roughly 1 to 1.3 percent mitragynine by one seller's published figures, about 3 mg per 300 mg tablet. This store's regulatory class kratom_leaf has its own state rows: Ohio ships leaf and bars extract.

Leaf products are the plant itself, dried and ground. One seller lists pressed leaf tablets at 300 mg of leaf each and "1.0%+" or "1.3%+" mitragynine by strain (Super Speciosa product data), which is 3 to 4 mg of mitragynine per tablet; a 2 g serving of powder at 1.3 percent is 26 mg. Leaf reports are written in percent because the leaf is the whole product.

Leaf is regulated differently from extract in two states. Ohio's rule excludes "kratom in its natural, vegetative form" from its Schedule I listing while covering extracts (Ohio Board of Pharmacy); Utah permits only pure leaf and only through in-state registered retailers. This store carries no leaf product in v1; the class and its 51 state rows exist so a leaf supplier can be added without touching the rules.
