Why does this store not use FedEx?
Written by: Author pendingReviewed by: Reviewer pendingUpdated:
Because FedEx's United States Service Guide terms prohibit shipping any substance that FDA has not approved and DEA lists as a drug or chemical of concern, "including, but not limited to, kratom and Salvia divinorum"; it is the only carrier whose terms name kratom (FedEx U.S. terms).
What exactly do the terms say?
The "Prohibited Items" section of the 2021 United States edition bars "any substance that has not been approved for a medical use by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration and also has been listed as a Drug or Chemical of Concern by the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration, including, but not limited to, kratom and Salvia divinorum" (FedEx U.S. terms). FedEx is the only carrier of the three whose terms name kratom.
Is that the current edition?
The research quoted the 2021 edition and could not locate the live United States prohibited-items web page, so identical wording in the 2026 edition was not confirmed. The store's weekly policy watcher fetches and hashes the terms and raises an alert on any change.
Do other sellers use FedEx anyway?
At least one does: a policy page dated March 2023 says "all orders are shipped through FedEx" (MIT Wellness). Shipping a named prohibited item risks account termination and confiscation of the package, which is why this store applies the carrier contract as a hard rule rather than a preference.
How is the rule enforced here?
Checkout rates come from USPS and UPS only; the admin cannot select FedEx; and the claims lint that runs on every change fails the build if FedEx appears as a carrier option in code or data. See how this store ships.
