Speciogynine

Updated:

Definition

A minor kratom leaf alkaloid and a diastereomer of mitragynine, included in five-alkaloid potency panels at some laboratories. Together with paynantheine and speciociliatine it forms the leaf signature that a converted 7-OH product lacks.

Speciogynine is one of the five alkaloids that fuller kratom potency panels quantify (Super Speciosa lab lookup). It is structurally related to mitragynine and occurs in leaf at a small fraction of mitragynine's level.

Its value on a report is as part of a pattern. A 2026 journal study of products sold as "kratom extract" found 22 to 75 mg/g of 7-hydroxymitragynine, 2 to 6 mg/g of mitragynine and no other leaf alkaloids, a profile that cannot come from leaf (Kratom.news summary). A report that quantifies speciogynine, paynantheine and speciociliatine alongside mitragynine is reporting a leaf-derived product. The reports linked from this store did not include speciogynine in their method scope; a five-alkaloid lot report is on the owner's supplier list.
